"Make sure I say what they want to read..."

Words from one of my favorite songs of all time, off of "Songs To Fan The Flames of Discontent", by Refused. Will there ever be another band quite like Refused? I doubt it.

Too much rehashing, grinding, liquifying, molding, conforming, and twisting of the same crap music, over and over. I wonder if it will change anytime soon? Probably not....groups like Simple Plan and Papa Roach need to eat ya know. McBand makes McMusic for mucho McBling.

Wouldn't THAT be great. To go to a restaurant and order the food that represented the music you listen to. I think the FDA wouldn't approve of most of it though...even from both sides. Certain menu items being stale, moldy, and tasteless....others giving people super human powers, and stimulating brain waves.

I hope the Refused DVD is released soon, so I can feast on some hardcore goodness.

Yeah, the DVD has been indefinitely delayed. It was supposed to be realeased this spring. There must be a ton of awesomeness to sift through. The DVD-Audio reissue of "Shape Of Punk To Come" sounds pretty sweet. "Twelve tracks of super-hi-fi quality rocking delivered in DVD 5.1 Audio with recently added guitar and percussion embellishments to take full advantage of this new format's incredible sound." I just gotta get 3 more speakers to complete my surround set-up. Then I'll sit, listen and pee my trousers.

Also I thought that Refused were #%$@ing dead.

If you read their final manifesto (http://www.burningheart.com/refused/) it seems that the re-releases that they have done in conjunction with Epitaph are hypocritical. "we will never play together again and we will never try to glorify or celebrate what was" “so that we will no longer be tortured with memories of a time gone by”.

It seems that capitalism has enticed them. Yes the fans want the goods, and will pay money for it. But isn't it going against their own philosophies? It’s seems that they are taking their situationist rebuke of recuperation and throwing it out the window. They’re making themselves part of the spectacle and repackaging their art and selling it. That is why they disbanded right? Since their radical ideas were being embraced and made safe like cotton candy for $2.50.

If they (Refused) haven’t had any part of the re-issues I could understand that it is the record companies who “own” the works are doing it for the payola. But things like “recently added guitar and percussion embellishments” lead me to believe that they are taking part. Which is totally backwards of their own mindset.

At any rate…I will still watch or buy the DVD. I am a consumer and a fan.
