Enough of this wait...

Ladytron was awesome. And when I say awesome, I mean great. The visual effects, the voices...everything - what a great show. Hung out with the crew from Ladytron afterwards....very nice peoples. They're the kind of band you check out, and immediately go home to find out if another one of their upcoming dates falls into any sort of out-of-town travel that you have coming up...they're that good.

Pretty Girls Make Graves? So good. So great. Another fantastic team that I would go and see every single time they come to town, or anywhere near this area. They were very tight musically - made ya wanna dance. But alas! Shoegazers! ARGH! What is with this annoying species? We have a great band on stage, obviously doing their thing, kickin out the jams...and what do we have? An audience that doesn't give back ANY love to the highlight on stage. SO ANNOYING! I tried to make my way up to the front of the stage, and was stopped dead in my tracks by a pair of 15-year old girls that did not want anyone taller than them standing anywhere near them. They said a few choice words about my covert ninja-like tactics, so I backed off, and let them continue to stare at the stage with absolutely no bodily movement or gyration, displaying their joy and excitement for PGMG. You better watch out shoegazers. I will take you down. I will take you down to China-town. Don't be hatin...

What else is going ON? Jurassic 5 is next week. I won tickets. Yeah you read that right. I'll be there.

What are we listening to out there? Anyone want to comment? Anything good?

I've heard some good stuff lately:

The Mercury Program (need to pick up some of their stuff)
With Honor
Dabrye

Gimme the goods people. That's what I'm here for.

I'm not dead...information coming soon...

Ciao...

I have a lot to write about, which will make up my next post. A review of the Ladytron and PGMG shows in Cleveland, some cool stuff I found on YouTube, and general info on all the beautiful noise I've been stuffing in my ears as of late...

Until then, enjoy the picture above.

The Sound waves are reversing!

Well, now we know what is on the other side of a black hole.

In the vacuum of information that is Man or…Astroman?, a monumental event is now upon us.

Touch and Go, the label that has released most of the definitive Man or…Astroman? CD’s, has reached a quarter centennial plateau of musical business operation. To commemorate the event they have gathered 25 bands to play over the 2.5-day stretch of September Eighth thru Tenth, Year Two Thousand and Six. One of those 25 bands is Man or…Astroman?

When you visit the
Touch and Go 25th Anniversary Block Party website you will notice that in parentheses after the Man or…Astroman? listing, there it is, stated plainly: “(all original members)”.

ALL ORIGINAL MEMBERS!

Thorough research has confirmed that not only will the steadfast astromen whom are Birdstuff and Coco be performing, but STARCRUNCH and Dr. Deleto will be brought back into our spectrum phase for our human visual cognition!

STARCRUNCH!!!

I really hope I can find a way to get out to Chicago this September. I would like to say that not even a trip to Italy would keep me from going, but my own biological cloning experiment requires my being in close proximity with complete attentiveness.

But if I cloned myself…

Yeah, Yeah, oh Yeah you know it.

I've been meaning to post this for quite some time...and I'm sure the band has been waiting for my approval/disapproval of their new album.

The Yeah Yeah Yeah's new album 'Show Your Bones', is easily one of the best I've heard this year. So many good things about this album - the layered guitar tracks, the drums, Karen O's vocals...it's all awesome. For a 3 piece....they throw it all out there. And for that, my friends, they will make it into my top 5 this year. However, random, autographed gift items sent to my attention could move this album into the top 3.

PGMG - new album...

So just 2.8 days left until Pretty Girls Make Graves are in Cleveland for their show at the Grog - and let me just tell you - I am downright giddy.

"Elan Vital", their follow-up to "The New Romance" has been out since April 11th - and of course I don't have it yet. But a visit to my local neighborhood
Bent Crayon will solve that in a hurry. I'm hoping to stop by today or tomorrow to pick it up - hopefully I can give the new album a few listens before the show.

New stuff I've picked up and like very much:

Madlib - "The Beat Konducta - Vol. I & II"
Soul Position - "Things Go Better With RJ and Al"

When is it OK to pass on The Gossip? Always.

BYOB. That's what 'The Gossip' brings to the party.

Bring Your Own Boo-yah.

I pulled down a few mp3's from The Gossip yesterday afternoon and gave them a listen. A few things happened:

1. I wanted to dance.
2. I wanted to clap.
3. I wanted more.

At first (and I mean, absolute first) thought, Janis Joplin may pop in your head to describe the vocal sound of Beth Dittto. But then that thought quickly disappears, because she doesn't sound like she's smoking every experimental drug known to man. She sounds great; quiet and calm when it calls for it, and then belts out bluesy sonic booms at the drop of a hat, to turn up the heat a few degrees. The music beside her - awesome! Great, innovative drummer, great guitarist.

That equals a great find in my book. But what do I know? I'm just bloggin' yo.

So, of course they've been around for 4 years and I'm just now finding out about them. C'mon people, I need help with this. That's what this site is for - to kill the typical four year gap that I experience while trying to find new, good music. Did I mention they'll be in Cleveland when Pretty Girls Make Graves are here? That just upped my appearance factor by 115%.

By the way....we now own 'punchthefloor.com' and this site will be redirected in the near future. The site will also undergo a rehaul, in an effort to attract the other 5,999,999,995 people on planet earth, that haven't realized that Punch The Floor packs more vitamin nutrition than a bowl of Total.

Further Seems Not-So Forever

Just saw that Further Seems Forever is no more. You know what that means don't you? Time to track what Jon Bunch is doing...

And I found something. He's teamed up with both of the FSF former guitarists and will be playing Sensefield and FSF songs - straight up acoustic-tastically! There's a post from 'Avocado Booking' on the website below showing a European tour sometime in June of this year, so you know they'll be in the U.S. around that time. They're calling themselves 'Fields Forever'...

I for one, am anxious to see them.

New banner...

Just wanted to bring to everyone's attention the brand new 'Punch The Floor' banner up above....ah yes, there it is, in all it's glory.

On another note...Cleveland-based artist Derek Hess has launched a clothing line, showing off his artwork - which I'm a big fan of. It's called the 'Strhess' line....and I'm very happy with my first piece. In fact, I ordered the wrong size, and the return process was smooth like butter....thanks Jill! Go here --> www.strhessclothing.com

Pretty Girls Make Graves finally have their new website up...checkity check it --> www.prettygirlsmakegraves.com - they're going to have a beefy media section up pretty soon....which will be for the good of awesome, showcasing new mp3's from the upcoming album.

Les Savy Fav? I think I like! I'll post more about them soon...
