Where's The Band, I <3 XLR8R & P.O.S./Doomtree

Bouncin' to the Grog tonight to check out the "Where's The Band" tour, featuring:

Dustin Kensrue (Thrice)
Chris Conley (Saves The Day)
Matt Pryor (Get Up Kids)
Anthony Raneri (Bayside)

Solo acoustic performances! Should be a la rad.

XLR8R highlights:

First off, everyone reading this should immediately minimize this window (you can read the rest of the post later, you have time), and go to XLR8R's MP3 RSS Feed. They upload new stuff EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Also, I love XLR8R TV. Check out the most recent episode of "What You Talkin' Bout, Willits?" with Christopher Willits of SoundArts studio. This episode he talks about building your own pedals - it's cheaper, makes you smarter, and allows you to get more involved with the sound. I thought it was great...the world of music needs more people like that. Keeps the creativity fresh...like it's wrapped in plastic.

Shows to hunt down members of PTF:

P.O.S. & Doomtree / February 25th / Grog Shop
Don Caballero / February 28th / Grog Shop
These Arms Are Snakes / March 3rd / Grog Shop
Agnostic Front / April 3rd / Grog Shop
Diplo / April 18th / B-Side

We here promise to update the Events Calendar every week. I know, I know, many broken promises in the past - just know this: the soup is on, and it's gonna be tasty.

Steppin' in what Prefuse73 is layin' down...

Prefuse73. I am def the biggest fan that I know. If you're a bigger fan, I need to meet you. Like, now. We need to talk. I own everything he's released and I'm feeling squinchy about the fact that his next release will be his last as the alias Prefuse73 (supposedly). It's titled, "Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian". Unfortunately, the website doesn't give a release date. It just says it's "on it's way", and out on Warp Records. The warm tingly part about this whole thing is that THIS MEANS HE WILL TOUR AND I'M SCREAMING WITH JOYFUL GLEE ON THE INSIDE.

He's set to do a world tour sometime in the Spring, and the PTF'ers won't be missing this one, fa sho.

If you need a refresher on some of his work...listen to some MP-Thrizzles on his MySpace page.

If anyone is in the Chicago area he'll be playing with RJD2 at Congress Theatre...if I could I would. It'll be the best show to hit Chicago this month, promise.

Guillermo Scott Herren, the dude behind Prefuse73. Also behind names such as Savath & Savalas and his new tag, Diamond Watch Wrists, with drummer Zach Hill.

All in all, I can't wait for the new cut, and you can count me for two at a Prefuse show cuz I'm already there.
